Abstract

Brazil has become a host country for thousands of Latin-American and African people, especially those who speak Portuguese. This article discusses the activities of nongovernmental organizations working with these refugees; more specifically, the efforts of SESC (Social Service of Trade), a sui generis institution engaged in socio-cultural activities in Latin America.
