Resettlement of Older Syrian Refugees in Canada: Key Individual Factors of Social Inclusion

Résumé

Les réfugiés âgés réinstallés sont à risque d'exclusion sociale et d'isolement social, mais peu d'études ont porté sur l'inclusion sociale des réfugiés syriens âgés récemment (ré)installés au Canada. Dans cette étude, un nouveau cadre conceptuel a été appliqué pour analyser l'inclusion sociale de 360 réfugiés syriens adultes âgés (51 ans et plus) au Canada. Les résultats indiquent que les réfugiés syriens âgés au Canada ont tendance à posséder de bonnes conditions de santé, un fort sentiment d'appartenance, une communication régulière et des relations de soutien avec leurs enfants, parents et amis et sont donc susceptibles de connaître l'inclusion sociale, malgré les difficultés d'éducation et de langue.
