“It Was Like a Tsunami”: Challenges for Refugee Third-Sector Organizations at a Time of Repressive Asylum Policies

Selon une méthode novatrice d’échange de connaissances avec deux organismes du troisième secteur qui travaillent avec des demandeur.euse.s d’asile à Newcastle au Royaume-Uni et à Parma en Italie, nous examinons comment chacun à reorienté ce qu’ils considèrent comme un travail de création de sanctuaires en réponse aux politiques répressives de l’État en matière d’asile. Ça implique notamment de se concentrer sur la langue et la communication en raison de discours anti-migration de plus en plus inquiétants qui donnent voix à l’innommable dans les deux pays. Deuxièmement, en réponse aux différentes politiques des gouvernements locaux, ils ont cherché à établir des relations différentes avec les institutions locales: celles d’autonomie à Parma et de collaboration à Newcastle. La conclusion examine la manière dont les initiatives autonomes du troisième secteur ont davantage le potentiel de créer des sanctuaires à long terme que celles menées dans le cadre de la collaboration institutionelle.
